JAI #326 Just Add Project Life

Hello there,
we had a wonderful burst of spring weather last week but sadly it didn't last. (I wasn't optimistic that it would but it's hard not to hope). However, it did inspire a very spring like project for this week's Just Add Ink challenge. This week Rochelle has challenged us to Just Add Project Life (PL). You can make a PL scrap page or use your PL supplies to make a card. I went the card route.

I pulled out a new PL card pack  - Hello Lovely (which is just plain lovely!) and picked some favourites. In the end my short list came down to one with a gorgeous flowering wreath and one with bold B&W stripes - so I used both! This came together pretty quickly (ok trimming out the wreath took a while but it's very therapeutic). I just stitched some vellum over the B&W base mat then added the wreath mounted on dimensional. That allowed me to inset a glimmer mat, gold thread and sequins, then all I had to was add a sentiment - and I was done!

It ended up just perfect for another popular spring occasion - weddings :)

Hope you join in the Project Life fun this week. Do go check out the rest of the JAI DT to see what fabulous PL projects they have come up with.

Thanks for visiting,
Kim

JAI #325 Just add a sketch

Hello there,
oh my goodness what a change  - spring sprung into life this week - I'm sure it won't last but it was so nice to be lured outside by the sun and the few flowers brave enough to be out already. The almost new season also heralds the beginning of family birthday season. The new challenge at Just Add Ink this week  - to Just Add a Sketch from Tina - was just perfect for a fun card I thought up for my nephew. Here's the sketch.

And here is what I came up with.

My nephew has grown up by the seaside and loves to go to the beach so I created a fun underwater scene. I used a jar as the circle sketch element and turned it into a fun shaker house for a fishy. I also built in a little puzzle for my nephew using the new Labeler alphabet to create the inside outside riddle.

Hope you can join us for some sketchy fun at Just Add Ink this week! Don't forget to drop past the rest of the DT for some inspiration.

Kim

JAI #324 Just add inspiration

Hello there,
well the kids finally succumbed to winter germs and here was I thinking we'd make it through winter without any. Silly me! They were actually off colour enough that they didn't fight which meant having both of them home was not as arduous as it might be normally and once I had all the housework done it also meant I had a chance to stamp. First up was this week's Just Add Ink challenge. This week Trish wants us to Just Add Inspiration with the lovely image below. I can just image lying in the flowers! To join us this week you just need to pick whatever it is about the image that captures your attention - colours, patterns, objects as the focus of your project.

Here is what made of it.

I wanted to capture a feeling of lightness. So I started with a watercolour panel coloured with Pool Party at the top and Pear Pizzaz down the bottom. I also white embossed my flower on watercolour paper then tried to capture the hints of pink and purple I thought I saw in the inspiration photo. The last main element was the woodgrain - I didn't want it to be too strong and dominating so I added a layer of vellum between my flower and the 'picket' fence I created. A two part sentiment and scattering of sequins finished it off!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the inspiration from the JAI team!

JAI #323 Just add F

Hello there,
well I have had an eventful week. I am making great strides in mastering my new computer and am almost feeling at home with it all. Well until I hit the next 'what do I do now or how did I do that' moment. My milestone for this week was to relearn photo editing, tune in next week to see the results! Now on to this week's Just Add Ink challenge. This week Tina wants you to Just Add F. Add F? you ask. That means the main focus of your project must be something beginning with F. This could be a thing - like a fox, a fish a flamingo, a colour like Flirty Flamingo, a technique or fold like faux stitching or a file fold. As you can see there is lots of scope to let your imagination go. I'm still having lots of fun playing with my new Fox Builder punch so a fox it was.

It's always handy to have a baby card or two in the stash so I decided to go with that for my theme. I thought the colours of the A Little Foxy DSP was perfectly suited for a baby card (maybe more so a boy ?) so pulled that out to pick a pattern. I did load a few layers onto this one, mixing dry embossing, DSP, vellum and a dash of florals and foliage. Points to note - behind the fox I sponged a fair bit of white ink to tone down the blue there and all the flowers had a splash of wink of stella layered over them. It took some fiddling but I was happy with how it all came together in the end.

Hope you can in the fun this week. Don't forget to stop by the rest of the DTs blog they will wow you with their fun 'F' projects!

Kim
